A Peanut Butter and Banana Oatmeal That Kids Love

peanut butter and banana oatmeal

This peanut butter and banana oatmeal is made in 5 minutes, no lie. It’s something I can whip up on a weekday morning and everyone loves it, even the kids! Quaker is a trusted brand in our family so it only makes sense that we use Quaker Oats for our morning oatmeal. The 1 minute oats are the secret behind how quick it takes to make this fibre rich bowl of yum. Not everyone is a fan of toppings on their oatmeal and that’s ok. In our family of 5, I serve it plain with fresh fruit bowls on the side. That way everyone, even picky eaters, enjoy breakfast with no complaints. Try some of our other favourite flavor combos such as peanut butter + nutella, maple + brown sugar or apples + cinnamon.

Yields:

 2 servings

Ingredients:

What you’ll need:

  • Small pot
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Small bowl and fork (to mash the banana)

What to do:

Heat the milk over medium to high heat. Once it reaches a mild boil add in the rolled oats. Be careful not to scald the milk by over boiling. Adjust the heat if needed.

I recommend using the 1-minute oats for a super quick cooking time although any oats you have will do (double check the packaging for cooking times if this is the case).

Once the minute oats are in, stir in the peanut butter and brown sugar. Peel the banana and mash with a fork before adding into the oatmeal pot. Stir in and add a pinch of salt to taste.

Adjust the consistency with more milk to get soupy, creamier oatmeal. The oats take only a minute to cook and once ready, garnish with assorted nut pieces and enjoy your delicious peanut butter and banana oatmeal alongside a fresh bowl of fruit.
